Keystone Church in Ankeny IA Celebrates Baptisms
On Sunday, October 1st, during our weekend services at our church in Ankeny, IA we celebrated baptisms at Keystone. We had the privilege to watch 14 total followers of Christ proclaim their faith in Jesus and respond in obedience through baptism during both services. It was a joy for our church family to celebrate their new life.
We had 590 adults in attendance at both services, and saw baptisms from both Salt Company students and regular attenders, with three baptisms of youth, and two spontaneous baptisms. Spontaneous baptisms occur when someone in the baptism service decides they want to follow Jesus in obedience. We have an open invitation to those who want to make that decision.
If you missed out on celebrating baptisms with us in person, here is a video with baptisms from both services:
Here’s an excerpt from our full statement of faith on baptism, which you can find here.
“Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water whereby a believer is publicly identified with Christ and his Church. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s 5 faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby believers memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming. Matthew 3:13-17; 26:26-30; 28:19-20; Mark 1:9-11; 14:22-26; Luke 3:21-22; 22:19-20; John 3:23; Acts 2:41-42; 8:35-39; 16:30-33; 20:7; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 10:16,21; 11:23-29; Colossians 2:12.”
