New College Ministry Launched by Ankeny Church

Keystone Church of Ankeny & Salt Company Partner To Reach College and University Students

The Salt Company is an Ankeny college ministry that is focused on furthering the good news of Jesus by equipping the next generation to be salt and light in the context of their campus, neighborhood communities, and around the globe. Keystone Church of Ankeny hosts the ministry and our first gathering launches August 24th, 2017!

Why The Salt Company?

Ankeny is growing. As a city in Polk County, Iowa, the population was 45,562 in the 2010 census, an increase of 68% from the population of 27,117 in the 2000 census. That means the number of college students in the area is radically growing, as well. We are called as a church to reach out and minster to them, to welcome them into our spiritual family.

We feel called to share the good news of Jesus to the next generation of college students in Ankeny. In addition to our children’s ministry and middle school/high school youth ministry, we are launching a new ministry specifically geared to college and university students.

The following colleges are universities are less than 10 miles from Keystone Church.

What is The Salt Company? When and Where Does it Gather?

Thursday Nights!

Students gather weekly during the school year to worship God and hear his message of reconciliation and peace. The atmosphere is naturally encouraging and energizing as we see a generation seeking God and being transformed by Him! Come join us!

Connection Groups for Ankeny College Students

The Bible challenges college students not just to attend services, but also to encourage and energize one another to grow following and loving Jesus and others (Hebrews 10:24-25). Connection Groups foster deeper relationships built around spending time together and having honest conversations. Connection Groups are a safe place to build relationships with other students. Come discover a place of friendship, accountability and the study of God’s word.

Here is What Students are Saying About the Salt Company around Iowa.

Jeff Gustafson reviewed The Salt Company —

This ministry and church loved me and encouraged me so much during my time at Iowa State! I was challenged and grew from their preaching and small groups, and even got the opportunity to lead a Connection Group as well and so be discipled by a leader in the church. If ISU, UNI, U of I or any of the new Salt company locations is on your radar for the fall for college, I highly recommend you check it out, regardless of your faith as you will surely be welcomed and cared for and authentically taught what it means to follow Jesus Christ. Thanks for everything, Salt!

Elizabeth Thomas reviewed The Salt Company —

The Salt Co. is gospel centered in all they do. They are a broken body of people striving to give all glory to Christ and His perfection. I have met so many close friends through connection groups because we have Christ as our common factor. Salt Co. has high accountability for their leadership and openness with the church body.

Rachel Wonderlich reviewed The Salt Company —

Oh… Salt Company, where do I begin? This place was my saving grace during the 3 1/2 years I spent at college. During my college career, I had a broken engagement and my parents divorced. This place, filled with sinners and broken people who wholeheartedly love Jesus, kept my broken heart glued together. Not only that, but this is the place where I REALLY came to know God and Jesus – even though I attended church weekly for my entire life. The Salt Company also provided me with the best spring break mission trip to Toronto. I could go on and on, but THANK YOU to the people who started Salt Company, and THANK YOU JESUS for blessing this place and filling it with your presence

The Story of The Salt Company

The Salt Company was originally a ministry of Grand Avenue Baptist Church. Formerly known as the Baptist Student Union (until 1986) the Salt Company grew and took shape under the leadership of Jack Owens to reach the students at Iowa State.

In 1994, fueled by a passion for reaching the next generation, the leadership of The Salt Company (TSC) planted a new church, Cornerstone Church, with 24 community members and 200 college students. Since 1994 both the church and TSC has thrived under the waterfall of God’s blessing.

Since that time, branches of the Salt Company have grown to reach thousands of students across Iowa, with ministries in Des Moines, Ames, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Cedar Falls, and beyond!
