DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

1. There is a progression of sin in verse 1 (“Walking” “Standing” “Sitting”). What are one or two areas of life where it’s easy for you to get “stuck” in sin?
2. In verse 2, the Psalmist talks about “delighting” in the law, and “meditating” on the law. What are some of the differences between those two things? How do they work together? Why are they both important?
3. If you had to pick a tree to represent your spiritual life right now, what tree would it be? Why?
4. Of the 3 things Matt has learned from this Psalm (Eliminate some things, Establish some things, Expect some things) which one is most important for you right now? Why?
5. Verse 3 sounds like a great promise: “In all that he does, he prospers.” In reality, you may or may not feel “prosperous” in your life right now. So how do you apply (and not apply) this promise?
6. If you substitute Jesus’ name into verse 1: “Blessed is “Jesus…” How does that change and enrich this Psalm?
7. This week, begin to pray and search the Scripture for “your verse.” What is a verse or passage of Scripture that you are drawn to?
